And let&rsquo;s not mention the fact that the price will be considerably lower, respectively.<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" align=\"left\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.greenoptimistic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/Flexible_Solar_Panel-2.jpg?w=1170\" \/>They used conventional silicon configured into micron-sized wires, instead of using brittle wafers. Then, they encased the wires into a flexible polymer that can be rolled or bent.<\/div>\n<div>Michael Kelzenberg, one of the scientists who worked on the study published on Sunday by&nbsp;<em>Nature Materials<\/em>, reported to&nbsp;<noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.greenoptimistic.com\/goto\/http:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/idUSN1316303620100214?type=marketsNews\">Reuters<\/a><\/noindex>&nbsp;that &ldquo;The idea is it would be lower cost and easier to work with by being more flexible than conventional silicon solar cells.&rdquo;<\/div>\n<div>Making silicon solar cells cheaper reduces costs and also associates the efficiency performance of standard silicon cell, yet unequaled by those who develop other kinds of photovoltaics, using organic materials.
