Onder de overgangstemperatuur kan het worden vervormd, boven die temperatuur neemt het dan weer de vorige vorm aan.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Nitinol werd oorspronkelijk ontwikkeld voor <a title=\"Ruimtevaart\" href=\"https:\/\/nl.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ruimtevaart\">ruimtevaartapparatuur<\/a> zoals antennes. De antennes kunnen v\u00f3\u00f3r de lancering worden opgevouwen en worden in de ruimte weer uitgevouwen. Als je zonne-energie gebruikt\u00a0via Fresnell lenzen om het warmwaterbad te verwarmen kan deze warmte-energie omgezet worden\u00a0in mechanische bewegingsenergie en vervolgens met een generator 230 Volt 50 Hz wisselstroom te genereren.<\/p>\n<p>In een\u00a0rapport uit 1970, wordt gezegd, dat investering voor de motor van 1 KWatts 600 US $ \u00a0is en dat is\u00a0goedkoper dan PV en Kernenergie. Met de toenmalige\u00a0technologie legering deze prijs drastisch zou worden verminderd\u00a0en dit zou een zeer kosteneffectieve technologiezijn (1970).<br \/>\nNikkel en Titanium metalen zijn niet zeldzame metalen en zijn\u00a0goedkoop zonder veel onderhoud.<\/p>\n<p>Het metaal wordt ook gebruikt voor productie van <a title=\"Stent\" href=\"https:\/\/nl.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Stent\">stents<\/a> met een geneeskundig doel en in de <a title=\"Orthodontie\" href=\"https:\/\/nl.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Orthodontie\">orthodontie<\/a>. Orthodontische <a title=\"Beugel (tandheelkunde)\" href=\"https:\/\/nl.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Beugel_(tandheelkunde)\">beugels<\/a> zijn bedoeld om een voortdurende druk uit te oefenen op de tanden waardoor deze recht gaan staan.
